Nestled in the heart of Devon, Great Bidlake Manor is approached down a tree lined private drive about a mile from the village of Bridestowe with its friendly pub serving local beers and good food and a well-stocked village store and Post Office.

We are on the western edge of Dartmoor National Park, an awe inspiring landscape that covers 365 square miles and is the location of War Horse and Arthur Conan Doyle's The Hound of the Baskervilles. You can explore on foot, go horse riding or even take a hot air ballon to experience this ancient scenery that sometimes feels like it is out of Tolkein's Lord of the Rings.

The ancient towns of Launceston, Tavistock and Okehampton are all nearby. The Cathedral city of Exeter and the M5 motorway is a 30 minute drive away. There are frequent flights connecting London City Airport and other airports from Exeter Airport.

The A30 dual carriageway is only a few miles away (but far enough not to disturb) which means you are convienently positioned to explore all that Devon and Cornwall have to offer.

From the surfing beaches of north Devon to other incredible places like the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, there will be something for everyone. Take a look at our suggestions of things to do and favourite places to eat and drink.
