On the edge of Dartmoor, within easy reach of Devon and Cornwall

Great Bidlake Manor sits just outside the village of Bridestowe, on the western edge of Dartmoor National Park and is well placed for exploring both Devon and Cornwall.

The local pub is a short distance away, offering a simple, welcoming place to eat and drink. There is also a well-stocked village shop and Post Office for everyday essentials and a few local treats.

Nearby Dartmoor opens out into an incredible 365 square miles of open landscape with its tors, rivers and wide skies.

Walking and cycling routes are plentiful, including The Granite Way. Horse riding is also easily arranged locally. It’s a landscape that feels both expansive and quiet, and one you can explore at your own pace.

Towns, coast and countryside

A short drive brings you to the historic market towns of Tavistock, Okehampton and Launceston, each with their own character, shops and places to eat.

Exeter, with its cathedral, restaurants and city centre, is around 30 minutes away, along with main road connections and rail links.

Less than an hour away, North Devon offers beaches, surf and open sea views, while further afield you can visit places such as the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Take a look at our suggestions.

The house is close to the A30, making it easy to reach and convenient for exploring the wider region. It’s a location that works as both a base for exploring and a place to stay put.

A place to explore, or not

There is plenty to see and do nearby, but many guests choose to spend most of their time at the house. The setting makes it easy to slow down, while everything else remains within reach when you want it.
